About Katie
Katie is a student studying textile design at Falmouth University, specialising in print design. Katie has been interested in creating multifaceted contemporary textiles in screen print and digital print design. Katie can be described as a very innovative and contemporary designer, who believes in high quality sustainable design for the future.
Her focus is designing collections for eccentric menswear and unisex collections. Concept is integral to Katie’s practice, she is motivated to design textile print to highlight relevant social issues such as the importance of community and the destructive nature of consumption. She is always interested by process and combining techniques, experimenting with laser etching and over dyeing, collaborative drawings transformed into digital print.
Katie has always been and continues to be inspired by art, design and contemporary fashion, visiting art galleries across Europe and fashion exhibitions for inspiration. Notable exhibitions include Tate Britain’s David Hockney retrospective, the V&A’s fashioned from nature exhibition. She shows a particular interest in the work of David Hockney and Paul Smith. Katie aims to provide innovative and sustainable focused research to inspire and influence designers around the globe within the trend forecasting context.
